About the Model

The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch (ref. 311.30.40.30.01.001) pays tribute to one of the most storied chronographs in space exploration history – the model worn by Ed White during the first American spacewalk in 1965. Faithful to its third-generation predecessor, this modern reissue preserves the original’s proportions and design language, including the stepped black dial, vintage-style applied logo, and dot-over-90 tachymeter scale.

Housed in a 39.7mm stainless-steel case, the watch features a black polished ceramic bezel with a tachymeter scale rendered in white enamel. The manually wound calibre 321—meticulously reconstructed by Omega from original schematics—powers the watch with historical accuracy and 55 hours of reserve. Visible through a sapphire caseback, it recalls the very movement used in NASA-qualified Speedmasters of the 1960s. Water-resistance is rated to 50 m.

Though not a numbered limited edition, the ref. 311.30.40.30.01.001 remains highly sought after for its direct lineage to the original Moonwatch and revival of the legendary calibre 321.
